RTF turf has been chosen by Manchester City Council for Piccadilly Gardens.

2600 m2 of RTF has recently been laid by contractors Blackburn and Robinson, following the success of RTF at Chester Zoo, this turf was selected because of it’s ability to recover in heavy wear areas.  A million visitors a year pass through Chester Zoo’s gates, turf used to be replaced annually until in Spring 2009, 1000 m2  of RTF was laid and is still going strong.  As Piccadilly Gardens receive 18 million visitors a year, RTF was judged the best natural grass available for this difficult site.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and all your staff for providing such an excellent service from the preparation of Piccadilly Gardens right through to the completion. It was a challenging task and one which you can be proud of as the RTF looks really well now it has rooted successfully. Credit should also go to Matthew Robinson and Paul King and their team for all their hard work on site, they were all excellent, they did a thorough job dealing with the compaction of the soil and it is testimony to them that they never hit any underground services. They were also extremely reliable and often started work around 05:30am and worked long days including over the Easter Bank Holidays, their dedication to completing the job for us was excellent, nothing was too much trouble for them and they were a pleasure to work alongside.” David Loftus Project Officer Manchester City Council
